One town, one subscription.
Hey Locals is priced by territory. You claim an area and the whole app works that area and nothing else, so the stories that come back are about the place your audience actually lives.
Territory
$199
per month
One town, or a small region run as one brand. The size almost every community actually is.
Network
Talk to us
Several territories side by side, a brokerage or a newsroom, or more ground than one brand covers.
Every plan is the full app. The tiers differ by how much ground you cover and how much research you run, nothing else.
What every plan includes
Scoops
Local news stories researched, sourced, and written as scripts.
Out & Abouts
Evergreen local stories about the places people already care about.
Teleprompter
Read your script off any screen, with your phone as the remote.
Planner
One story fanned out into shorts, carousels, posts, and issues, each with a date.
Newsletter drafts
The next issue fills itself and lands in your sending tool ready to send.
The watch list
Events, jobs, businesses, and social accounts across your area, checked all day.
Covering a second place
Each territory is its own workspace. Its own sources, its own business directory, its own record of what you have already covered, and its own subscription. Switching between them is a dropdown, and the bill is one card.
Keeping them separate is deliberate. A story engine pointed at one town knows that town. Pointed at everywhere, it knows nowhere.
Questions
What counts as an area?
One town, city, or neighborhood. A county also counts as one area, and a territory can include up to two: underneath, the research works each county town by town, so listing your counties is the easy way to cover the region you work without naming every place in it.
Can I cover more than one town?
Yes. One territory lists up to 8 areas as a single brand with one audience, and the shape almost every region takes is a home town, the county or two around it, and a few neighbors named outright. A second distinct community is a second territory, with its own subscription, sources, directory, and story history.
How much research do I get?
Up to 300 researched story candidates a month. Research comes back with about double what you ask for, so there is real choice in the curate queue, and a weekly batch at the default size uses a fraction of the allowance. Research runs on the news cycle, so weekly is the rhythm the product is built around, and most people never get near the number.
Why is it not unlimited areas?
Because the research would get worse. Story hunting is split geographically across the places you cover, so a territory pointed at forty towns returns forty shallow stories instead of ten worth recording. A few towns and a county or two is the size a real region actually is, and past that the right answer is a Network conversation, not a wider net.
Do I need my own website?
No. Plenty of people run their community entirely on social and a newsletter. Nothing publishes from Hey Locals, so it works with whatever you already post and send with.
I already have a newsletter. Does this replace it?
No, it fills it. The next issue assembles itself from the week's stories and events and lands in your existing sending tool as a draft, so your list, your design, and your subscribers stay exactly where they are.
I only want an events calendar on my site. Is this for me?
Probably not, and there are cheaper tools that do only that well. Hey Locals is built for the person who goes on camera and tells the town what is going on. The calendar is the part that feeds the stories, not the product.
Is there a contract?
No. It is month to month and you can cancel from the billing page whenever you want.
Your town is still open.
Hey Locals is invite only while we get ready to launch. If you have an invite, sign in and point your town at a few sources tonight.
